A medical second opinion can help patients make a more informed decision regarding their cancer treatment plan. Cancer is a complex disease, which may require a tumor board.
What is a Tumor Board?
A tumor board consists of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists that executes a treatment plan to provide the best outcome for the patient.
In the past decade, we have learned that second opinions are valuable for international patients due to the high volume of cases that MORE Health receives each month. Once more popular with international patients, the COVID-19 pandemic has spiked an increase in telemedicine, making it equally valuable for domestic patients.
Technology and digital healthcare have made consulting with a specialist for primary or secondary care easily accessible.
MORE Health’s Platform Provides Second Opinions on Radiation Treatment Plans
In the past few years, we have received many international requests for second opinions specific to radiation therapy treatment plans—which led our innovative team to create an outlet for this request on the MORE Health proprietary Physician Collaboration Platform™.
Dicom RT is a newly added function that will offer cancer patients and their oncology team peace of mind regarding the radiation treatment plan with a second opinion from the best medical physicians in the world. Our team is in the process of fine-tuning with the valuable feedback received from radiation oncologists, who are part of our network of academic medical center partnerships to improve functionality for clinical use.
The Dicom RT will serve as a unique and helpful tool for radiation oncologists to review radiation treatment plans for international or domestic patients. The specialists will be able to review and adjust contouring from the original. The radiation treatment plan is created based on the CT/MRI scan taken during simulation and highlights dosing, structures, and contouring. The second opinion is a consultation between physicians, but the treating physician makes the final decision for the best treatment plan for the patient.
MORE Health’s Dicom RT will also allow a multi-disciplinary team to review complex cancer cases with their colleagues before providing a second opinion.
The multi-disciplinary team can include radiologists, pathologists, medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists. Once the team completes the treatment review and finalizes the plan, the clinical impressions and contouring adjustments would be shared on the platform with the treating physician to review with the patient.
Our platform provides a secure opportunity to form a tumor board for rare and critical cases with physician specialists from multiple academic medical institutions to review cases via our HIPAA-compliant zoom accessibility. During tumor boards, Dicom RT will be a helpful tool to review and discuss radiation treatment plans along with the entire medical record. Once the final second medical opinion is ready to be rendered, our platform can provide quick access to the case for physicians and patients at any time and anywhere in the world.
At MORE Health, our vision is to provide access to the best medical minds in the world, delivering world-class service, innovation, and digital solutions globally. MORE Health believes that Dicom RT will help provide cancer patients and their oncology team with the best possible treatment options.
